This is an original 1967 Mattel Hot Wheels Redline known as the Python, Made in Hong Kong. It is actualy based on the a real car built in the early 60's. I have owned Hot Wheels for years and have about 60 from the original set most in mint or excellent condition that I bought new. I was given this by a friend a few years back and I decided to try and fix it up. I wasn't worried about it looking like original because restored cars just don't bring that much money.
Picture 1: shows the Python as I got, we think it sat in a box with corroding batteries by how the front looks. I actually stripped it using an SOS pad and water.
Picture 2: is the body painted blue metallic with a can of spray paint that is about 5 years old I found in the garage.
Picture 3 shows the repainted complete car with a new flat black roof. I found a place that sells repo redline wheels.
Picture 4 shows the restored Python sitting next to an original unrestored 1967 Hot Wheels that I have owned since new, both are Made in Hong Kong.
I think it turned out really good. I am very pleased. Now I want to find more to fix up.
