    Peugeot Freres Woodworking Plane - c. 1850

    This is one of the most valuable tools in my collection; It is from the flea market and in practice I bought a cat in the sack. There was a mark on the blade, but it was clearly unreadable under the layers of rust. Next you can find a link, which explains, that a crescent on the blade means 2-nd quality steel. This is one of the oldest makers marks of brothers Peugeot, so one can suppose the period of production is c. 1850. Maybe in this period for the first time appears the rhombus as a Peugeot sign, as you can see on the pictures.

      I could only get the second link to work.
      The first one came up as a 404 error & the third said I didn't have permission.

      @ walksoftly; something with the settings, I suppose; Try next steps:

      First link:

      1. Open http://toolemera.com/;
      2. Find on the left "Merchants & Manufacturers" link;
      3. On the letter P there is a link "Peugeot Freres"

      Second link:

      1. Open http://jpcousinou.free.fr/;
      2 On the left there is a link "Mes vieux outils"

      Hope it should work now;

      Wonderful old piece probably used for rabbiting and moldings.
