Antique dealer brought this to me for repair of the broken wings on the cherubs. I think its a lamp stand because there is a hole that goes all the through where the wire would go. Please post your thoughts or recoginition

If this were standing on the floor would it be just over waist high? You didn't mention how tall it is. Just curious.

Yes. It would look great with a world globe mounted on it. I can't measure, its been picked up.

The reason I asked about how high it would be dates back over 50 years ago. The little guys you refer to as cherubs I was told were Angels. I recall seeing two similar stands when I was quite young. Both were just inside the front door of a house. The stand had a bowl or dish on top that held Holy water. When you went in or out you were expected to bless yourself with the Holy water if you were Catholic. The one that sticks in my mind as being quite similar was in the home of a family that immigrated here from Italy. I went to school with their son and was frequently at their house. I remember being told that the little angels were looking up to heaven and at you also. The vine wrapped around it also had a story to go along with it. I probably never would have gotten the details except I bumped it and made a spill. I didn't get in trouble but I did get informed that it was to be respected and why it was there.
