These are the other Native American items found at local sale I don't think these are that old but well done pieces and cool patterns. In awesome shape anyone have an idea on period or tribe there are no markings. They differ in size but like in the 7-8 inches range.

I'm sorry, but these are not Native American. These are copies of Native American design patterns, made in Pakistan.

Unlike Native American baskets, these are made from palm fiber. No Native American basket makers use this combination of material, weaving technique, and colors. The colors, especially, are a key identifying feature that they are made in Pakistan. Plus the fact that one side is rougher than the other, and not finished smoothly on both sides, is another characteristic of these Pakistani copies.

They are sold on several web sites, including Ameri-i-Mex, El Paso Saddle Blanket Company, and Zanzibar Trading Company, if you want to confirm this. Unfortunately, they are also sold widely throughout the southwest, in galleries, gift shops, trading posts, and souvenir stands, both on and off the reservations, and many tourists buy them, thinking they are getting a good buy on a genuine Indian basket.
