here is my West German gas mask with metal storage canister, the mask is mfg by DRAGER and dated Feb 1958, the carrying can is marked AUER and has extra gas mask lenses stored under the lid
the helmet with net is a West German M40/52 as used by West German Police and Border Guards / BGS
Same design canister as WWII I notice.
the metal storage canister is the same design as the type used during WWII by the luftschutz / anti aircraft defense / police
also mfg by the same German company that made them during WWII
I read that some German Army (German: Heer) also used the civil defense gas masks.
I have noticed several post WWII German items are the same/similar to WWII. But it is economic to use the same gear even if there were some bad vibes.
the US did the same, lots of gear from WWII was still used in the Korean war, Vietnam, cold war era, like the old M1 steel combat helmet used from 1941 - 1990, some units deployed during Desert Storm back in 1991 with the old M1 steel pots, also the M1911a1 .45 pistols are still in limited use today, thats over 100 years!
