This is the third of three from the "large set" of Lladro clown heads, LLadro 5542, "Melancholy". As with the other two, it was designed by Jose Puche in 1989 and retired in 2000. It measures 11.5" h. I will be posting the smaller set later.

Lladro certainly had and have some great sculptors working for them. I'm not a collector but have a book by the company from 1981 giving a bit of family history and showing how they design and make their figurines.

Thanks Rose... I love these types of items. I find them so interesting with their handmade quality which reminds me -in a way- of some Capodimonte figurines I've collected throughout the years
