    i found this quite big wooden panel on a carboot sale - and i have no idea what it could be - looks like a prayers board - islamic script - perhaps persian - its finely decorated and i think it looks a hundred years old ... any ideas ? thx, T.

      maybe urdu or something like that Urdu is language and writing of Pakistan, and parts of India, I do not know, I have a cribbage board with I think is Urdu and hoping someone can read name on it, it is beautiful!! toracat

      I also have an Islamic Prayer Board that I bought at a car boot sale and it is about four feet long with a round, carved area at the top. My one comes from the Swat Valley, North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan (I believe) as it is similar to one i saw on the Powerhouse Museum website. That one is made of Himalayan Cedar and dates between 1850 and 1900.
