I don't think this keg was used because the plug is still in it. The directions are in five different languages plus English. On the bottom of the barrel it says "Davis Mc Gill New Bedford, Mass." The barrel plug says "U.S. Burg Mfg. Co., CIN. O.". On the label it says " A compound syrup, prepare with caffeine, extractives form coca leaves ( cocaine removed) cola nuts and other flavoring material; colored with Carmel". Early Coke advertisement said " Relieves fatigue". That's because the early syrup still had cocaine in it. What years were these used?
Used in the 1920's. The company has always used Coca leaves from the beginning to today. Trace amounts of cocaine were found in the early 1900's.

The Red Barrels are iconic and make awesome display pieces. Nice label, that's important.
I bought it sometime in the early seventies at a antique store somewhere in the L.A. area.
Nice find before Coca Cola collecting really took off in the mid 1980's.
