Vermont winters are cold, especially when you're waiting for a train in the late 1800s. This Jewel stove, on display at the excellent Shelburne Museum in its railroad depot (see my other posts) is an eye catcher in its own right (even without the train pictures in the background).

The markings on the stove read:

    Jewel Stoves and Ranges
    The Original Detroit Stoves
    No 20
    Station Jewel
