My Guild D40 Special

I have a Guild D40 Special, serial # AJ 1845; I know it was made at the Guild Custom Guitar Works in Hoboken, NJ in 1967; the factory installed pickup gives it the "Special" designation; the 3-D, Red, White & Blue "I AM AN AMERICAN" shield centered just below the bridge is a complete question mark. My brother originally owned the guitar and removed the original Guild Label from inside the guitar because it referred to someone's name or company name as a presentation or promotional model (???). My brother passed away recently and the guitar came to me. All I have to go on is a long forgotten memory of being with him when he purchased it and the salesman referring to it as a "one of", I can't remember if the shield was on the guitar at the time of purchase. Any information concerning this guitar would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
