It is my understanding that it originated from China. I am not sure if it was designed to be lamps. The holes at the bottoms for the electrical was drilled on the seal at the outside bottom of the lamp. This is very unusual.

I bought the lamps at a thrifty store.

Please note that the gold is NOT paint but real gold that was applied on the lamp.

I have no idea how old and exactly who would have made them.

I will need to find nice lampshade for them.

So there is a mark on the bottom? They look Chinese would of had a lid which looks like they used to make the tops an removed the handle for the lamp parts.
