PRIMITIVE FOLK-ART SLINGSHOT Mother of Pearl Handle 5 '

Primitive Slingshot is equipped w/ a Mother of pearl mosaic handle, which is accented w/ silver?tone elephant ear pieces. Row 1 of handle. Not sure on the make-up type of wood the handle is. My question concerns where this might have been made......My guess is South America/Africa areas....Thank you for any contributions for this piece.
