    This looks like something that the police would have used on Al Capone or someone else from the mafia way back when! : ) The lead center sure gives a mean feel to it and you can tell it packs a real punch. It is about 13 inches in length and was used by a police officer in the late 1800's. From what I am told it was used by an officer in Detroit.

    Motorcycle cops carried these in steel tubes mounted on their Harley Davidson motorcycles up until the 1960s. They had many names including a baton, straightstick, nightstick, truncheon, cosh, paddy wacker, billystick, blackjack, and/or noggin knocker. They were replaced with other batons to look less threatening to the community and people with which they served.
