    This is made of cast iron. Made by F. E. Myers and Bro. I suspect it has something to do with a hay carrier and fork. Pressure on either paddle on the sides allows the center part to swing down away from the hook end. Thank you in advance for your help.

      You are right. It's part of a F E Myers hay trolley system. I found other refrences on line.

      I see lots of pictures of their hay trolleys but nothing like this piece. I'd like to know how it works exactly. I suspect it may be a trip mechanism for a fork. ???
