White milk glass collection with some of the opaque pieces dating back to the 1880's, mostly westmoreland, atterbury, and Imperial. I still have one piece to add to make my collection complete and it's a boar head covered dish by atterbury, I've only seen 1 in my lifetime and wasn't able to get it. I hope you glass lovers enjoy the pics!

      chevy59,

You have such a complete and fantastic collection of Atterbury so....I was hoping you could help!

I have two sets of milk glass Hen on Nest, quite alike but, still different. I was hoping I could get some help with identification. I understand there is a fantastic book with all the details but, I can't afford the book...

Both hens are milk glass but the glass is slightly different in the two. Both have red glass eyes but, one has smaller eyes than the other. Both have the smooth style basket with no makers' marks that I can find. Each hen is approximately 6.5 inches end to end and 5 inches across.

One hen seems like it might be an Atterbury but, there are so many things I don't know. Are there other companies that used the red glass eyes, or STILL use them?

Photos of the hen with bigger eyes found here:

Thanks for your time and, fabulous collection!

Thanks for stopping by kristin, I'm not an expert on milk glass, but the hen with the bigger set of eyes looks like someone may have replaced them. Sometimes the makers marks are on the inside cover of the dish. Wish I could be more help.

Thanks so much for looking! do you know if any other companies (besides Atterbury) used the red glass eyes?

Hi Chevy59, what a fantastic collection of Milk Glass you have! I've only recently discovered it after getting a Milk Glass lid top by Vallerysthal, I think it's quite old, I'll post pictures when I take them. It which reflects oranges in the opaque parts, quite amazing how it changes in different lighting conditions. I love it.
