This Westclox Silent Knight model S1-E was made from 1936-November 1940. This was a $1.99 thrift shop find today, probably a bit less than that after sales tax but minus my 15% veteran's discount. It runs, keeps time and the alarm and second hand work, but the knob to set the alarm time spins freely. Missing the rubber grommet where the cord feeds through the case in back. Some minor dings but not too bad for being at least 82 years old. Very heavy, perhaps a couple of pounds. It keeps perfect time.

There used to be a clock shop about 75 miles from here that worked on older clocks so I will see if they are still in business and would take a run at fixing it so that the alarm can be set. I have been looking for clock to put in my spare bedroom and had been looking at cheap used quartz wall clocks but may just use this, instead. Not sure how collectible these are.

    History
Made with black or ivory non-luminous dial. The "feet" which are part of the case are painted the same color as the case. (Whereas in the ivory model the "feet" are brass color). I think that the black dial came first, we need to study some example data."

That is probably the most handsome Westclox alarm clock I've seen it's so stylish, they truly don't make them like this anymore

Thanks for your comments PhilDMorris! I was pretty surprised to find. It was at kind of a junk shop thrift store but I have found some nice things there. Seeing the $1.99 price tag, I figured it was probably not working, but I found a place to plug it in and the second hand started moving, one of the things that often breaks first, so I bought it and took it home. It is in really great shape compared to the other examples I can find.

Thanks for loving my old alarm clock Kevin, AnythingObscure, Bruce99, Ben, Alfie21, Manikin, WhenIsraelbelieves, Cisum, dav2no1, Watchsearcher, PhilDMorris, vcal, fortapache and BHIFOS!
