I puchased the "jar" part from a local early viewing at my Late Great Aunts estate sale. I then kept a close eye out for the Top, about a year later I run into one at a local Flea market. It had been paited gold and looked terrible but at a steal I bought it ! I sandblasted the top and repainted the "Football" covers over the gears and also the handle. I did not paint the lid, I just oiled it down with 3 in 1 oil. It was also missing the little whey cover or breather on the lid and I purchased a "reproduction" one from ebay. I read some on these churns and see that the earlier ones were square and they ventured away from that design to the "Tulip" design jar because the butter/cream would get stuck in the corners of the square jars. The lid has "dazey" stamped on it along with the workings on the inside, and the date of 1922 in ink (Stamped) on the top of the lid and how in the world it stayed on there after I blasted it i'll never know?????
Thanks junkmanjoe & aycockonxion !!
