Well I bought this item about 15 years ago from an estate sale. The family couldn't tel me anything about it. It is a copper visor, with hoses and brass fittings atached to it. The hose runs to a small tank on the underside of the visor. There are small slit type holes along the bottom of the tank, 8 toltal about a inch apart. Only mark is a patpend on the front. Anyone have any ideals? Guess's?

Thank you again AR8Jason, that certainly makes senses. I wonder if there is any way to seach a Patent database without a number. I wonder if it ever got a patent? I think it may very well be a patent model, as it does not appear to ever been used. The leather head bands are like new.

I have been asking people about what this could be too. It's driving me nuts not knowing. Thanks for the possible info. Everyone I ask has no idea. One even mentioning that the piece isn't all there, maybe a possible hat that would go over the visor?

Thanks treece76, I think it's all there. looking at the hose's and brass valves I am thinking it's from the 30's or 40's. I am leaning towards believing it was a patent model that never made it to the patent office. I did a patent search and came up empty.

The term Patent pending, means that a patent has been applied for, it gives the inventor some protection during the review process, in some countries. The use of the term without an application in place is fraudulent. The term is used until a patent is issued or rejected, or dropped by the patentee.
You may have to expand your search to other countries.
Also what you refer to as a tank would more appropriately be called a manifold.

I know this is a really old post, but i have acquired the same item and was told the it was a visor worn by the dealer at a casino and blow the air out to keep the smoke out of hie face.
