I inherited this ring when my father past away in august 2003.
As long as I can remember, he had this ring, as a little boy I was pretty impressed by the size of the ring and my father promised to keep it for me. I wanted to know more about the USAF ring and today I found the same one Collectorsweekly.com

I would like to know more about the ring, how old it is/can be, who made these rings etc. etc.

dutch-- you may want to check "Vanguard" as a possible maker on your ring.

They have been making military insignia for years and MAY have ventured into rings for a time.

Their usual marking have a large "V" with the name spelled out below and an eagle but there were variations.

Right on.These were a generic type ring that could be purchased via mail order, or at the PX. The ones that have a bit more value are the class issued academy rings bought in a cadets senior year from their respective service academies.
    7. scottvez scottvez, 13 years ago
Service Academy rings have a significantly higher value and collectibility than most of these type of rings.

Most Academy rings are owner engraved and have gold content.

Snyders Treasures doesn't know the makers mark, so it stays unknown.

I'd check with some vintage jewelry folks on the maker marks.

In MY experience, they generally have a better idea on jewelry marks than militaria folks.

I know this was ten years ago, but I have a stone (glass, really) that has this same insignia. I believe it's for The USAAF Aviation Cadet Overseas during WWII.
Don't know if that helps, but that is what I have found through my searches.
