Hi
I love this quilt, does any one know if its free hand or printed designs?
I purchased it from an estate sale...was told it was made in the 1900's. My mother is a huge quilter and she says its Musem Quality I am just sure if it free hand and printed or all printed.

back in the early 1900s magazines and newspapers would print designs and do a series. Women were encouraged to follow along an complete each block to make a quilt. My understanding is that the paper was pinned to the cloth and then the quilter would embroider through the paper and remove it once the design was complete.
I suppose the quilter could have added little details if they wished, or changed the design. But I would bet this quilter stuck to the designs in the pattern.

I am actually in desperate search for a redwork quilt myself. My mom sold mine in about the 1980's from either NH or VA/DC areas. This quilt has precious memories for me and seeing some that are similar actually cause me to tear up. I have no idea where to begin. I have searched for collectors/dealers but have had no luck and my mom refuses to discuss it with me. Many people added personal touches dependent on their own creativity needlework techniques and many times dated or initialed it. I was very young when last I had it but I remember that there was a deer, a squirrel and acorns and birds. Someday I hope it finds its way back to me. Enjoy yours.
