The stick pin is unmarked. It came with a bunch of hatpins I purchased that were from the 1930's. It measures approximately 2 1/2" (6.4 cm) long & weighs .046oz (7.3 grams). The swastika is 7/16 of an inch (1.1 cm) wide. It is constructed of brass. The edge of the swastika is raised giving it a shiny/sparkly look.

Very interesting to know that they wore swastikas in their hats. Fascinating and could well come in handy for Film Studios when producing the old war films.

I was just reading the other day that Coco Chanel had a love affair with a Nazi Solider and this is not a very publised fact - you never see that in the movies about her.

it was a nazi officer and she was exiled to switzerland for the love affair.

Hi AR8Jason - yes that makes more sense! I couldn't recall seeing Nazi Women with these in their hats which is what sparked my interest.

That is an interesting article CW has written.

The swastika is a very symbolic symbol in the Buddhist Faith and also Hindu as well. A Hindu man here in NZ painted a Swastika on his roof during a festival for his faith and was forced unfortunately to take it down. He explained it's symbolism to the press but the majority of the people can't see past it's link to Nazism.

AR8Jason - Mackey! Thanks for the introduction and you have some very pertinent comments in that article - especially the bit about "historical" perspectives. Now I know who to come to with my few military items :-)

I once had a hat pin with the swastika that was brought back by a vet.. memory tells me it was at least 6" long.

Without any German maker id this could very well be a pre-Nazi era item.

The symmetry, raised border & quality of the pin fastening tell me it is almost certainly Nazi.
