I picked this up many years ago at an estate sale. I believe it is brass as it weighs a ton and I've used it as a door stop. Now that I've discovered this wonderful site I thought I'd see if anyone knows who made it? The only marking is the "Z" on the bottom.
    Thanks.

my mom and dad had one of those frogs but it was cast iron,
it was made at harriman (tn) plow factory and foundry.

Thanks for the note. Did they use it as a door stop?

YES, they also had a cast iron dog 'nut cracker, my grand father worked there he made plow handles. I have a small stool made out of unusable handles. each of my family has one.

Possibly Zawol brass foundry in Wilkes Barre, Pa.? They have been in business for 83 years.

Hi bluemoon. Thanks for the lead. I contacted the Zawol foundry and Charlie thinks it might have been made by his father. I'm trying to get him a better picture as he didn't have Internet connectivity.
