I picked this up from an elderly asian man at the flea market today. A pair of bronze pheasants on a very interesting stump. This seems to be a very unique pheasant bronze, from the research i've done online. i'd love to know more about it. unfortunately, it's unsigned. anyone know who the artist was?

thanks jim. i'm going to add a photo of the bottom of the piece. i don't know that much about bronzes to answer your questions, but it is pretty heavy for it's size. it looks like it was a lost wax or some hollow form which was then filled w/ something else and a piece has been welded to cover the hole. i couldn't find any marks on it. the piece is 12" tall from base to the tip of the tail.

thank you epson233. i hope to learn more about it through cw. i picked it up for a song at a local flea market. it was the only nice thing i found in the whole place. mostly new plastic stuff there.

i did a little research on this last night. there are lots of bronze pheasants from the 19th century, but this one is very unique, i think. it's of good quality, lost wax technique. the uniqueness is the stand that it's on - the flowering stump - along w/ the very tight, vertical position of the birds. i'll post some more photos to show more detail.
