Two vases with unusual, modern look from Strombergshyttan - Sweden. Model number B1299 signed in the bottom of the lower, quadratic vase. The higher, rectangular vase is unsigned. Blue tinted and fully cutted Stromberg crystal. The recessed parts in the shape are sandblasted.

    Rectangular vase:
    Height - 16,5 cm
    Width - 12,5 cm
    Deep - 8 cm

    Quadratic vase:
    Height - 14,5 cm
    Width/deep bottom - 7 cm
    Width/deep top - 7,5 cm

Mid or late 1970s design, according to the model number. Designer unknown, but I'm working on it. I have several contacts which I hope can answer that question, but if anyone here knows I would be happy? Speculations: I don't think this is an Orrefors design, therefore not later than 1976. Perhaps Gunnar Nylund if not later than 1975? Otherwise Anders Solfors or Asta Stromberg? Hopefully I'll get an answer within a few weeks.

Edit 2013 10 31: The designer is Anders Solfors, who worked as engraver by Rune Strand 1964-67 and after Konstindustriella skolan in Gothenburg back to glass and Hovmantorps Nya, then Strömbergshyttan in the 1970s.

      Good luck on these rebessin.
I have never seen anything like them.
Is the frosted section done by an acid process?
They are both very clever designs.
The rectangular vase reminds me of the Wirkkala 'Sointu' with its curves at front and back. The quadrilateral vase is quite singular. It is worthy of Lalique. Those shapes within and without are lovely. Very organic.

      Thanks vetraio!
The frosted sections seems to be sandblasted (quite sure of that). There are bulges on the inside of the vases There are bulges on the inside of the vases, on the opposite side of the recesses on the outside. Thus, the form the vases were blown in, must to have recesses.

I now have seen another of these models for sale. They wrote it was a design by Gunnar Nylund. I asked in a mail if they had any facts for their conclusion, but have not got any answer yet. it was at least two months ago, so possibly it was only something they assumed?

Now I got the answer. The designer is Anders Solfors mid 1970s. I asked himself and he said he both designed the vases and made the graphite formes.
