The trunk measures 32wx19d and 23h. We got it from grandmother. Locks made by Yale and Towne Mfg. in Stamford Ct. Slats are wood and there are two sections of mottled color over the front and top and another mottled are on the base. Would love to know the estimated age of this trunk.

Looks like a 1900's to 1910 "monitor" or "waterfall" trunk. Looks like it is in great shape. Really nice piece -- thanks for letting us have a look at it.

Any idea of value? Will it decrease the value if I clean it up and varnish the wood slats? How about manufacturer?

Value is hard to discern as I do not know your market area. There are lots of classified trunks for sale that should give you a fair idea. I cannot see it decrease in value if you refinish the wood slats. Without a label it is very difficult to know who made it -- there were just too many making them at the time unmarked.
