I recently acquired this 18" X 25" artwork. I bought it for my girlfriend, since she has a black cat and likes black cat things.
I am trying to figure out what the marks mean.
I think it is Chinese or Japanese, but I don't read either, so I was hoping another collector might and would be able to tell me a little something...
I believe the artwork is around 50+ years old....
    Any info would help!

Its Japanese. Unless you find someone that can read Japanese, you'll never, ever figure out what the marks mean.

I was told the top mark (red one) is a kind of magic letter (MANTRA)? And that the bottom is the signature with the red mark at the bottom signifying the signature on a painting. So, a little information, but this is still an UNSOLVED MYSTERY. :-(

After further research, I determined that this was a print, not an original watercolor, so I sold it off at auction. :-/
