V&A Porcelain Figures
The Victoria and Albert Museum’s online collection of Meissen porcelain figures includes more than 150 pieces, including many commedia dell'arte characters created by Johann Joachim Kändler in the first half of the 18th century. Each piece includes a detailed description (place of origin, maker, mark, etc.) and a link to enlarge its photo. To learn more about how porcelain was used in 18th-century Europe, visit the V&A’s Fashions for Porcelain page, and to get a sense of Augustus the Strong's passion for porcelain, read the museum's essay about the Meissen-made King Vulture.
