I found this strange bottle in an old dump in the (Quebec) woods about 3 weeks ago. I really have no idea what it contained. I was hoping some fellow bottle digger or collector would be able to give me some insight. The bottle was found cracked but still intact. You can see the before and after shots. Any help would be appreciated.
If you are old this bottle is not at all strange. There is a good chance it never contained anything when new. The metal screw on cap is missing but the bottle looks in good shape. These were really common around the late 50's and through the 60's up in New England. You could buy them at the Grand Union stores. Most people I remember used them to mix up Kool Aid in. Back then milk came in waxed cardboard or returnable glass bottles so rinsing out a milk jug usually wasn't common. I think these sold for around 69 cents. They were easy to grip and easy to pour out of without spilling. Brings back memories of days gone by.
I remember Mom had a couple of these. She kept tea cold in the fridge in them, circa 1960's.
Nice to see someone else remembers these. I was feeling old and alone on this. I seem to think these came out around the same time there was a big push to sell powdered milk.
