Clear U.S. Made Pressed Glass does not seem to be a priority with CW members based on my observations over the past year that I've been a member. There are so many wonderful patterned Glass items made by companies like Heisey, Cambridge, Fostoria, Imperial, U.S Glass-Tiffin, Duncan, Millersburg etc.. that need to be shown and appreciated by our budding collectors and members.
The Artistic value and Quality of pressed glass, even if it's machine made, needs to be promoted. Our Middle Class heritage has furnished us with wonderful examples of unique and fascinating items that we should be showing off.
The Indiana Glass Company of Dunkirk, Indiana, came to be in 1908 after the National Glass Company which was a conglomerate of nineteen glass factories throughout the Northeast and Midwest, and had purchased the Beatty and Brady Glass Company, the parent company of Indiana Glass Company, later went bankrupt and into receivership.
This large compote is a Prime example of the beautiful quality pressed items that a True Blue U.S. Company could produce. It was made between 1904 to the 1920's and the pattern is the "DOUBLE PINWHEEL". It is quite impressive at 7 1/2" tall by 10 1/2" wide and is a very busy pressed glass pattern with fans, diamond points, stars and of course the large framed Double Pinwheels. It exemplifies very well the early pressed patterns of the Indiana Glass Company that can readily be found in our regular Antique Glass outings.
They will be the "sleeper" collecting craze of the future....they should be!
Lovely EAPG example! The OMN for this pattern is Juno. One resource on this pattern has it dated to 1908, thus not predating the incorporation of Indiana Glass. Hope you're right on the "sleeper" concept; that would mean that perhaps my EAPG cake stand collection may eventually increase in value. But until then I'll continue to enjoy them anyway.
Tallcakes! Always great to receive your input. Thanks! So Juno was the OMN and 1908 the year of issue! Thank you smiata, vetraio50 and SEAN68 for the Love! RER(BOB)
