The firm of Leon Hatot SA of Paris licensed the Swiss manufacturer Blancpain of Villeret to produce its roller-automatic watch from 1930 to 1934.
THE ROLLS AUTOMATIC - Roller Winding
In this design, the entire movement glided back and forth over balls in a frame, whereby winding took place in only one direction. Blows to the case were absorbed by leaf springs. The entire mechanism was housed in a smooth rectangular hinged case that had to be opened to reach the hidden panel on the edge by which the hands were set. I have included a photo of the movement from a reference book.
Beautiful and very unique. Great timepiece. Thanks for sharing George.
