pretty cool lil stone carving,..think its genuine Inuit from the look of it and the carving and ID sticker on the bottom,..but thrift shop finds have no provenance so I'm hoping someone out there can give me some info on it? gonna keep it regardless i just like the look of the lil bugger,..hes about 9 inches long nose to flippers and 3 high
I have 3 of them made in Canada by eskimos I would like to know if they are of any value.
you n me both brother...know this ones worth at least 6 bucks,..cause thats what i spent for it,..but im thinking is worth more if you can find the rite venue
I found one of these carvings as well shawnicus. Look up an Inuit Syllabics chart online. Each symbol on the bottom is a letter or syllabic which will give you the artists name. The number on the bottom is a newer version of artist's Canadian Disc ID. From 1940 to 1970 or so they all started with letters for the region and then the numbers to ID the artist. So your's may be newer than say 40's to 70's. This time frame is where the most valuable pieces are selling, from hundreds to tens of thousands. It all depends on the subject and how well known that particular artist is or was .Here's a great site I used to try and value my find.
