Verlys frosted glass vase, mermaid motif, marked, chips at base. 10''h

VINTAGE VERLYS MERMAID VASE
Striking and lovely vintage heavy molded glass vase measuring 10-3/4" tall and approximately 7" wide. Featuring a bulbous shape with pulled neck, glass is thick - about 1/3". Bearing a dramatic high relief of nude mermaids in various poses - they appear to be dancing in the water - their hair streams around them and the panels are divided by swirling serpent fish. Although unmarked, vase was manufactured by Verlys in the 1950s - appears glass was blown into a form with molded decoration - bottom is ground and polished. Decoration is in pristine condition - I find no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs or damage -- amazing considering how far from the glass the figures protrude. Top is flat with a beveled edge - no bites - glass is clear with no discoloration - just a satin finish to the frieze. Unusual and dramatic, size and weight are impressive -
