I just purchased this set of Victorian boxwood poison jars with Masonic symbols burned into the wood (c. 1870's-1890). They have a beautiful warm patina and wood grain. The dealer told me that they are very scarce items in superb condition. Question 1: Are such items scarce? Question 2: Why would the Masons mark such jars with "Poison" and Masonic symbols?
