Produced by The Gerett Corporation of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the dates changed as coins were inserted. The right hand side controlled the days, while the left controlled the month.
The back has a "conscience slot" where days missed, paper bills and/or half dollars could be deposited.
The bank's metal body must have been generic, as the colored plastic and transparent plastic could be removed from the front. The colored backing could be supplied as per the customer's whim, and the transparent plastic could feature any bank or business that the customer wanted. This one features The Peoples' National Bank of Edwardsville, PA, which had been absorbed by The Wells -Fargo Bank.
I reckon that this cool collectible is from the late fifties or very early sixties.
