    Form Nr. Unknown
execution: 1903, glatt Maigrün (smooth pea green)
    Reference Harrach Archives AH 125

This vase is a monster, standing 14.0" tall, about 5.5" wide, and weighing more than 2-1/2 pounds!

The same motif of stylized larch branches with cones painted in raised gold (on a different form) is shown in From Neuwelt to the Whole World, 300 Years of Harrach Glass, edited by Jan Mergl. Further cementing the attribution of this piece was the fact that in a museum-owned photograph of the painting center of the Harrach Glassworks from the year 1903, sitting right in the center of the table is an example of this exact vase! (see partial scan in photo #2)

Of the example in the book, it says - "A unique vase, large enough to permit the elaboration of the linear decoration on an unusually extensive surface, in this case the composition very much depended on the creative abilities of the painter. At the same time the execution of the decoration on a smooth single-coloured background made considerable demands on the precision and skill of the painter."

As an added bonus, the photo of the painting center shows a small drinking glass sitting next to the large vase in the same shape as a purple-shaded to clear glass (with similar raised gold decoration) I've had in my collection for over a year (see last photo).

In person, this vase is just amazing. The rim is factory ground, and the bottom is marvered smooth. Unmarked, but with a period photo of the vase sitting on the painting table in the factory workshop, who needs a mark? :)
