    I love this find. i do not speak German unfortunately or I would know what this was saying! I love it. Great condition for age. Anyone know any of these words? HAHAA

      There are enough common root words between these languages that you should have an idea if you read them... Confirmation Book for young... .

      It is very hard for me to read the handwritten part because the pastor used the old German alphabet rather than the Latin one.

      Hope this helps.

      As far as I can see all the young people received a book as a gift from their priest and in this case a young man named Ludwig Karl (I can't make out the surname) was given this by pastor E.D. Kufel (not sure of the surname) on April 28, 1889, in La Fayette. The text mentions God several times and something about 'God will help you' - so we can safely say that it is some wise words from the pastor to the young boy!

      Im glad you all have better eye sight than me. Taking a second look after reading this I see it. Sperb I believe is right
