I believe this may be an unsigned Lotez or Kralik --

There are two sets of numbers on the bottom (can only be seen with a loop)

    4477/207 is the larger set

    3503 is the smaller set

    Can anyone help?

Loetz oil spot pinched vase in cranberry ? Anyone help?
    3. Mac63 Mac63, 11 years ago
Perhaps Loetz Rose Papillon - this is a guess.
    4. Angell, 11 years ago
I am located in NYC -- and willing to bring the vase within the area to anyone that wants to take a look.

Mac63, you ROCK! Thanks for correction!! XO

The ground color appears to be Neurot (new red), and the decor is similar to that of Medici. There is a Phänomen genre number for it, but I will have to look it up as I can't remember it offhand. but yes, it is Loetz.

The decor I was thinking of is 1/475. This may or may not be it. It's not Medici, which is pulled upwards into 3-4 "flames" and not just randomly covered. It is not Papillon, because the spots do not extend all the way to the rim. Perhaps Tony will pop in and give an opinion.

      Dave, you are amazing!!
    9. Angell, 11 years ago
Dave, Thank you for all you information. How can I be sure it is Loetz without a signature? Also, do you know what this would be valued at?
    10. dlfd911 dlfd911, 11 years ago
Most Loetz is not signed. The way you know it is Loetz is to ask someone who has handled a lot of it. It has a certain look and quality to it. Wait for Tony or Jim or Dan or Deb to chime in on it.

We generally don't discuss prices here. Your best bet is to look at some ended auctions to see if they have prices listed for various Loetz Phänomens. I would think yours would fall into the same region as some better Medici pieces.

Let me make a change to my suggestion...it should be PG 1/473. 1/475 is a slightly different decor.
    13. Angell, 11 years ago
Dave, I am not sure what the numbers mean. Can you provide further explanation. I am not a collector. This was my grandmothers vase and it has been just sitting on a shelf for years... After watching an episode of antiques road show I realized it may have value....
    14. MacArt MacArt, 11 years ago
yes, and good value too, very attractive piece, and condition seems to be great too. how big is it?
    15. Angell, 11 years ago
I can measure it when I get home. But it is a large vase.... there are no scratches and it is in great condition. Like I said it has just been sitting on a shelf. If I was to sell this item.. how should I go about that.. I have never done this before.

Angell, Loetz Phanomen genres were usually assigned numbers rather than names. The existing books that show photos of the paper patterns, like blueprints of the shapes, also list the decors in which they were made. Over the years, and using Loetz's own invoices, researchers have been able to connect the decor numbers with the actual decors. It can become confusing because decors were made in various colors, so although the iridescent spots may look the same, the ground colors may vary.
The numbers on the bottom are probably someone's inventory numbers from a private collection or even a museum. By the way, you should never do that. Put a sticker or even a mark with UV pen rather than defacing it.

Thank you! what should be my next steps?
    18. dlfd911 dlfd911, 11 years ago
You should decide where you want to sell it. Either through an auction house, or if you know someone who sells on internet auctions perhaps they could put it up for you. We really aren't supposed to discuss this on here though.

This definitely looks like Loetz PG 1/473 to me (1/475 has diagonal patterns of spots, and a different background color) so I agree with Dave. The colors are really nice on this one. Excellent!

      Hi Angell
Nice piece ... Would go with Rosa 1/473 ...
Still waiting on the size / measurements ... also helps to see the numbers ...
eBay has the highest visibility and easiest access for sales
The "one careful lady owner" story wears a bit thin though ... So best avoid that ...
      Cheers
