This bad boy is ancient! I just want to know more about it... I can't find the Manufacture on it anywhere and it is "sargents combination style" LOCKED open. There is another smaller safe inside I don't have the key for that either. My mom and I thought maybe from the Jesse James era since we only live about 20 minutes from Northfield where he robbed the Vermillion bank. I think it has a neat story, even if I did make it up. But I would like to know more about it, anything at all. In comparision to those on the internet McKennas Safe co. and Silas C. Herring & Co. it looks to be about 1800's, and about a thousand pounds ( give or take a few, I can't move it!). So here I am left sitting wondering if its really even cool at all or if it's just an old hunk or cast iron(?) Please help! Thanks alot, I am excited to hear from someone. Kristina & Jerod Waltman.

Ive been to Jesse James Days a few times. Wasn't it the First National Bank? I have postcards of the pictures that appeared in the paper of the fallen gang members propped up in coffins lol.

The lock in the safe is the profile like a house of today? Or is flat? Or does it look like an old double sided skeleton key? AR8Jason is correct it is very easy to figure out the combination. Don't get it to work the first time and then close it and lock it till you have gotten it to work a few times. and this will sound dumb also but I know people have done this DON'T forget to write it down and DON'T lock it in the safe. LOL :-)

Would think a locksmith or a local safe company could get this to operate for you without much problem, much better open than closed. I had one very simular to the one in the photo, doubt if that is the original color.
Will contact the person who now has the safe and will see if they can locate a name on it and will get back to you.
Put a few drops of oil on the wheels, they are not swivle but much easier to move if oiled.
