This summer I visited my mom in south of France where she lives now and it would have been shame not to visit glass factories they have there, they are not the best ones, well but it was too far to go to Venice. This one is a tiny plant, I initially thought that there is only one but found out that there are at least three glass plants in Biot.
Thanks for sharing Mac
Thank You friends for the loves and comments!
from the pictures you can see that even small plants often are able to make glass which could be easily misidentified without inspection or advanced knowledge, as in second pic there is millefiori piece which in ebay would probably 99 times of 100 would be labeled as murano, or the one with silver foil which borrows some design elements from Delatte pieces.
Beautiful :) love the place and the glass:)!!!
How wonderful to see a glass manufacturer still making beautiful vases. And how great for you to visit the southern region, isn't it magnificent? Lucky mum..
Don't sweat Venice, you will get there. I was lucky enough to go for my honeymoon, it's still there and will be for a while I imagine..
Did you buy anything? It's hard to buy glass when you travel. We did pretty light travel when we went because we wanted to do a lot of trains and walking and lugging suitcases would have held is up. All we could get was a small glass tray in patchwork design and we lugged it from Venice to Pisa, Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Capri and Amalfi Coast, then back to London and finally shipped to Australia when we relocated back a few years later.
I should have bought glass now I think about it and sent it back home via post.
Do you have any other photos, love to see them.. That red one looks beautiful, they all do...
Hi macArt, I see you're around,, hopefully you can answer this time you're visiting... :) Anne. :)
Hi Anne, I'm sorry I made You wait this long for a response!
You are right South of France is just magnificent, it's hundreds of kilometers of postcard picture coastline, every time I visit I am wondering why don't I live there...
Unfortunately I did not buy anything, I'm not huge fan of new glass, I was hoping that I would find some large "vide grenier" event (something like flee market), but found out that they are not big in summer, so I'll just have to visit in autumn or winter some time.
shoot me Your e-mail and I'll send You a link to a dropbox gallery of the trip, there is not much of glass but there is some more and some museums, zoo, parks and scenery.

look forward to seeing them..we dont have Dropbox anymore, we use BT but I'm sure I'll b able to view...
yup I'm not a big fan of new glass but when you go to some places like Murano or Wedgwood at Barlaston, or Poole at Poole, you just are obliged in your mind to buy something because you are there!!
It's darn hard to lug back though without breaking...lol...
