At first glance when I saw this at VOA I thought that it was a print it looked so good. I wasn't really sure even after I bought it. It's in an old photo frame with a flannel back that just slides out the bottom. They removed the easel and wired the back to hang it on the wall. When I got to the car I opened the back and to my surprise I found a rough pencil outline sketch of a window and vase on the back of the art paper. The watercolor paper wasn't even mounted to the matte. I flipped in over and saw how detailed and refined this little 8"x 10" watercolor is ! This is a very talented person but probably just another unknown amateur. Name searches online turned up nothing as usual. It's not dated but I'll guess it's maybe 60' 70's. There is a bit of yellowing where the matte touched it at the top but the back is still white. Another gem for my art gallery. -Mike-
Very great find! I swear we end up picking on the same trend. I've gotten more little paintings this week than ever. Plus our W German infatuation great minds...
