This little 7" vase is proving to be a mystery. I picked it up the other day and have been trying to ID it the last few days, but so far I got nothing. There is no mark or label on the bottom. The weird part is the unglazed bottom looks and feels like Wedgwood green Jasper ware. The color of the piece is the color of whatever material it's made of.The whole piece is clear glazed except for the bottom and a bit of the interior. The acanthus leaf looks like applied slip and not paint or glaze. I would almost say it's closer to porcelain than pottery. There are so many of these by just about every maker you can think of, but this one is odd enough that it doesn't fit in. It's probably a modern Chinese piece but I'm hoping it's not. -Mike-
beautiful:)
Hull? Hmmmm...looks like I should know...
I know I expected to find it right away too. It has a heavier feel compared to most of the Hull, McCoy, and Roseville pieces. It looks like Wedgwood jasper ware that's been glazed, but as far as I know there is no such thing. It's an odd duck !
Have never seen this one. Hmmmm
Almost has Roseville shape.
Good morning ! Yes it is a strange one. I'm thinking European at this point.
Plus the white is really white. Not creamy.
This horn of plenty looks a bit lonely without some contents, its a very beautiful one, the base art deco and puts it over the top !~
