I am not sure of the age but the condition is beautiful. This lovely cantilever sewing box is a teak finish.I just wanted to share it. I think Singer sewing machines may have given these away with their sewing machines.I will post the lovely portable singer another day!

Well my two cents is only two cents but here it is. Keep in mind I don't sew or collect although I do turn things over now and then. I DO love wood. I believe this would be called an accordion sewing box. If it was provided by or built for singer it was most likely made in Australia. The base wood looks like either Tasmanian lace wood or leopard wood that is quarter sawn. Both are interesting woods to work with and the grains are wonderful, especially when turned on a lathe. I love it.
