I just purchased a suite from a garage. The tall boy dresser w/ mirror, vanity and stool, as well as a spool bed, from a man who says it belonged to his grandfather.
This guy was more into modern furniture. He didn't know anything about this, other than it is old. I believe him as there were plenty of cob webs to remove! I absolutely love it and wouldn't sell it for nothing! There is no indication as to who made it. It does have those old metal wheel. The screws are robinson and they appear to not be the same size and are larger than typical. The vanity has the drawer on the top and if taken out, there are cubby holes to the left and right of the drawer, they are hollow. the numbers printed on the back are 439. The scent reminds me of my childhood.

I can't see this close up but I would venture to say it was made in the 1940's.

Agree with fhrjr2 on your pictures and era-- maybe a decade earlier.

Well even so, I got it for $500! The two dressers, one has a mirror and this vanity and the head and foot board (no rails) and I think it is a beautiful set! Thank you for your comments :)

You did well at that price. I based my date 99% on the dovetail joints. They would make it 1940's the metal casters may or may not make it earlier. Metal casters were used well into the war years from previously made supplies. When they ran out they couldn't get metal to make them from because of the war effort. Going back to the joints, the face plate doesn't lock in the side panel and is machine cut. That became the standard during the 1940's. Even in this economy you did well. It is a fine looking piece.
