This just looks interesting!
Is that a horn (cow) on the end & what kind of stone on the other?
Have you seen the metal pestles on the net that suggest a Viking source for the design?
Cow horn etc. lasts a long time, but not than long unprotected.
You are correct, BB.
BB? We aren't on a 1st name basis yet! That's BB2 to you! LOL
Kev here!
It looks like buffalo(?) Horn on the end, and im not sure of the type of stone, its dark grey, almost black and very hard. Im going to bring it to a local antique shop today to maybe find out more.
Saw one similar here. http://www.westernartifacts.com/tools2.htm but this is the ONLY place ive seen it. Also dint want to jump to conclusions
Ronald you found it. It makes sense to use smooth horn as it would be better than rough stone on the hand.
