This is an Appalachian or mountain dulcimer. It has one heart sound hole and geared tuners. Everything is level and symmetrical, except the sound hole. I believe it's solid wood, but could possibly be plywood, not too sure. It is very solid, no coming apart on the edges or any glue showing. It sound beautiful. Not sure who made it or when it was made.

I think dulcimers in general aren't that common. These kits were out in the 70s I believe. They sound nice. Since they are made by unknown individuals they aren't worth as much as the one that have company names.

I just picked up a dulcimer today at a flea market. Instead of the heart hole, I have a Peace sign. Also when I looked inside the hole I can see a sticker with the name of the person that made it.
