Parker House Boston,Kings Chapel Boston, E.E Anthony lithograph 1956 from 1870 Painting.Home savings Bank Boston
Not sure how this came to be. It appears to be a 1956 lithograph of an 1870 painting, on loan from Home Savings Bank of Boston for a 100th anniversary presentation for the famous Parker House Hotel in Boston. There is a tiny smudge or piece of paper on the bottom front possibly from aged backing. Pretty amazing piece!

Would love to know if this is an important piece and who would think its importance the most. I cant seem to find its equal anywhere. Before I list it, I would love to know more. Help please...........

    Best regards,

    Brian O'Keeffe

      Hi Brian,

I know it's been 3 years since you posted this, but I was Googling and came across your posting. E. E. Anthony was my grandfather. That picture is very much his style. The original painting was probably done during the time he was employed by the Forbes Lithograph Company in Boston, Massachusetts. I'm not sure what year he started work there, but he died in 1941. I expect the 1870 date refers to the founding of the bank that was being commemorated. Here is a link to a biography I sent to AskArt.com: http://www.askart.com/artist/Ernest_Edwin_Anthony/5001286/Ernest_Edwin_Anthony.aspx

Unfortunately, you can only view the biographies for free on Fridays. But the short version is that he was born in 1894 in Providence, RI, was educated at the Rhode Island School of Design, worked at Forbes Lithograph Company, taught art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and died in 1941.

Thanks for posting your print! It's always fun to see other work by my grandfather. (My sister and I inherited about 10 watercolors and our first cousins inherited a similar number of oil paintings after our grandparents, and then parents, passed away.)
