Here's a trunk I purchased up in Michigan about a year ago, but just recently restored for my own collection. It's a wood slat covered trunk made by Martin Maier trunk company of Detroit. It's a nice size being only 28" wide and about 21" tall. I just cleaned the wood slats well and put a coat of tung oil finish on them. I also remade the leather tie down straps for the front in the original style. The leather side handles are original which was great for a trunk that was probably made in the 1870's to early 1880's. The interior tray is original and I refinished it and remade the small compartment lid. There is an original lithograph and trim in the lid which I kept and I relined the other parts of the interior with blue fabric. Now it's one of my favorite trunks.
Wow -- what a gorgeous trunk -- you do such beautiful work to your pieces...
Gorgeous! Very amazing work. I wish I could have you refinish mine.
Trunkman and Aimathena, thanks very much for your comments.

Beautiful trunk! You did a great job on it.
Thanks for showing off your prize. One doesn't often get such a treat.
Nicest trunk I have ever seen!
Wow, there are a lot of trunk enthusiasts or collectors on here now! Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Keep on trunkin'.
