I found this cabinet while on a "Quilt Shop Hop." The store was closing and I fell in love with it before knowing it was even for sale. I called my husband and pleaded to buy it, and then a day later he drove me, and a big enclosed trailer to Beulah, MI to pick it up. He did all the moving while I stood in the stree outside the store and answered all the questions from folks who came by. (The owner, also an artist, had a new second floor studio and could not find a way to get it in.) It's an Oak Sherer Seed Cabinet made in Chicago. It's ten and a half feet long, with 21 total drawers, (15 small drawers and six large drawers.) It has the original pulls (with the SHERER name) on all but one drawer. The framed glass boxes for display on front are removable to fill. Glass is missing on one large frame. The original decals are in good shape too. My husband built a (removable) two by four frame underneath it, that holds large casters so that the cabinet can be easily moved. I currently use it in my studio to hold quilt & art supplies and with a mat on the counter top for cutting. I recently saw one on an antique auction site that sold for BIG bucks, and I am having second thoughts about having such an expensive thing in my modest studio. What do you think it is really worth, and is there a market for such a cabinet?

Haven't found anyone yet who has any idea. It's so big, 10.5 ft long. Haven't found any others that big. How much was the one you found?

I just bought an 11 foot dry good Sherer Cabinet in great condition on Craig's list for $ 800.00. I plan to use it as a kitchen island. I think I got a good deal

I have a 5 foot one with 12 drawers. I think I paid $2100 for it about 20 years ago.
It is in very good condition. Hang on to it. It can only get to be worth more.

This is beautiful. I'd give anything for one, but they are too big for my space. I saw a similar one for over $5000 in Red Wing MN a few years ago. Enjoy this wonderful piece.

I have a Scherer Seed Counter, just 1 inch short of 12 feet. Dated 1911. I use it as an island in my kitchen. Anyone know a value?
