I had went to a friends house to look at a 4 wheeler he wanted to trade for my 40hp mercury motor, as i walked out behind the barn to the back drive, I noticed a tractor in the weeds, I have always liked old garden tractors and was hoping for a good find. I have a 1971 Simplicity Sovereign 3416H that im restoring now, but it doesnt have the deck and a few other key parts to finish. I moved the shoulder high weeds back, and the first thing I saw was the twin headlights on the side of the hood, like mine at home, I started talking then, Asked if he would throw this in with the deal, I wasnt sure he would, but I kept on till I finally got him to do it , with a 50.00 kicker. I hadnt even seen whether it had a motor on it or not, I had to have it, I agreed and we shook on it. We didnt pull it out of the weeds yet, I had to bring a trailer to get it, so we loaded the 4 wheeler up and went home. It was about a week before I got to go get my new found treasure, but I was excited about it, keep in mind, I had not even seen all of this mower yet, we hooked a chain onto it and pulled it out. WOW, and OMG< was all I could say for a minute or two, I had scored big, This thing is in very good shape, with the original deck on it, but it was missing the 15 hp kohler that came factory on it. That was ok, I loaded it up and went home, and started researching on the intenet on it, found out it was a 1972 Simplicity SOvereign 3415 S (shuttle drive), 48in deck, and came factory with the heaviest rearend they put in this style series. All I needed was a motor, but thats another find. The deck alone , up north will bring anywhere from 350.00 to 500.00 easy to a collector. Thanks Mike for letting me tell about one of my killer picks. Tim Merritt Big-MO Southeast Missouri
