I bought these from a dealer that specialized in early porcelains. He bought several pairs of these items that were recovered from a ship wreak off the coast of Viet Nam. They were cargo on a Chinese ship which sunk about 1730. They are about 2 inches tall.
He sold a few sets locally, and then sent a set to a very well-known NYC auction house. I saw the item listed in the auction sale catalogue and the auction house confirmed the ship wreak story and the age. I have to admit I sort of doubted the whole ship wreak story at first. After I saw the auction house listing I believed it.
